Turracher Höhe in summer

Pure nature. Remarkable. Inviting.

Turracher Höhe will impress in both winter and summer. Worlds away from the hectic of the big city, no babble of voices or loud background noise. Located on a high plateau at 1,764 meters above sea level. With Lake Turracher See, the region's natural jewel nestling in the middle. The border between the provinces of Carinthia and Styria runs right across the lake.

Being active at Turracherhöhe

is synonymous for hiking. Across the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve. Amidst grassy hilltops. Turracher Höhe's beckoning landscape is a true paradise for hikers and mountaineers who are spoilt for choice with a wealth of outdoor activities. Whether your preference is a level mountain walk or a demanding tour with ascends to the surrounding heights, there is a suitable recreational menu for all. Such as up to the Eisenhut (2,441 m) or across the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve to the Große Königstuhl (2,336 m). The 3-Lakes Trail designed as an experience for all the senses provides a moderate hiking challenge especially attractive for families. The Barbaraweg explores the history of the local mining tradition.

The Swiss stone pine plays a leading role at Turracher Höhe.

It’s not without good reason the experts speak of Austria’s largest contiguous stone pine forests. Due to its special characteristics, the tree’s wood is highly valued everywhere. People suffering from allergies feel particularly well at this altitude, which is virtually pollen-free.

Another special feature: The Alm Butler.

Hiking on Turracher Höhe is a great summer adventure – thanks to the unique Alm Butler. Dressed in his stylish alpine outfit he conjures up little surprises at the most beautiful locations around Turracher Höhe, organizes sunrise tours and picnics, ensures a cozy cabin atmosphere or prepares an unforgettable breakfast on a mountain peak.
